Detroit's Polish Parishes

This publication was created in 1985 by an organization then known as PERC (Polish Emergency Relief Committee), now known as APAA (American Polish Assistance Association). The American Polish Assistance Association has been in existence for many years. The volunteers who run this non-profit group have sent thousands of packages to Polish orphanages in Eastern Europe.

The organization sponsors Holy Thursday Pilgrimages to the Polish Catholic Churches of the metropolitan Detroit area and this publication was created to commemorate the 15th anniversary of those pilgrimages. It has information on all 32 of the Detroit area's Polish Roman Catholic parishes as it was available in 1985 (including the 7 parishes closed by the Archdiocese of Detroit in 1989 and Immaculate Conception which closed in 1981). The photos are the same ones that appeared in the publication. Some current information has been added and appears in white text on each page. There are also links to web sites where you can get additional information. Additionally, I have added maps of the Polish areas of metro Detroit, both current and historical.
